Educational resources on saffron for families and teachers
The Botanical Garden of Castilla-La Mancha (JBCLM) has presented a new educational resource aimed at bringing the world of saffron into the classroom. It consists of four educational worksheets, designed specifically for nursery, primary and secondary school pupils, available in both Spanish and English.
The aim of this material is to provide educational centres with an attractive, rigorous tool adapted to each school stage, enabling them to address the botany and culture linked to Crocus sativus, one of the region's most emblematic cultivated plants. The worksheets combine illustrations, practical activities and informative content so that students can understand, in a simple and enjoyable way, the life cycle of saffron, its traditional cultivation and its historical importance in Castilla-La Mancha, as well as enjoy colouring.
The JBCLM emphasises that these worksheets have been designed with student diversity in mind and the need to offer bilingual resources that support learning in both natural sciences and English. They can also be easily integrated into classroom projects, autumn activities or teaching units related to agriculture, biodiversity or natural heritage.
With this initiative, the Botanical Garden reaffirms its commitment to environmental education and scientific dissemination, providing teachers and students with accessible, high-quality materials that promote knowledge of flora from an early age.
