Xerophytic forests with a clear Levantine influence.
The Botanical Garden aims to represent pine forests on the right bank of the Júcar River near Casas de Ves (Albacete) and nearby areas of Carcelén. This region is unique biogeographically within Castilla-La Mancha, as vegetation along this stretch of the Júcar shows clear Valencian influence.
Species here are generally thermophilic, including flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus), mastic (Pistacia lentiscus), and heather (Erica multiflora), along with Menorca cistus (Cistus creticus), a protected species classified as “Vulnerable” in Castilla-La Mancha, with a very limited Iberian distribution..
